Hi, I’m Johanna.
I am a Pediatric Occupational Therapist, Lactation Consultant, and mother of two. I find the joy in my life by helping others reclaim the joy in theirs.
This comes from understanding one’s responses and approaches to life. We lose pieces of ourselves as we begin, or add to, our parenting journey. We reclaim our joy when we begin to understand and appreciate the new routines and roles.
My Approach
Food and feeding is at the foundation of keeping humans and animals alive. It seems like it should be a simple, easy process, but what if it’s not?
Consultations all begin with a truly holistic, family-based approach. Families consist of a variety of nervous systems attempting to interact with each other. Most times, these nervous systems may not ‘play nicely’ together.
I work to support your family in your current phase, chapter, or season. Together we can work to ease the difficulties and increase tools/strategies for support in these areas.
Growth and development are not a linear process. I would be honored to support your navigation of the process.
Feeding and Lactation
Everyone needs to eat to survive. Eating is a routine that is complex and involves so many body systems coordinating together. It is also one of the easiest things for humans to control when they feel like they have a significant lack of control.
Infant feeding is the beginning of the feeding journey and sets up human relationships with food and feeding.
Although lactation is a preferred method for many, it is not always possible. I seek to support families in this journey.
Occupational Therapy
As an occupational therapist, I approach care through the lens of person, environment, and occupations. Occupations are the jobs we do as humans every day. I observe person, environment, and occupations with focus on sensory systems, body systems, and trauma-aware care. This means that I will help you find the nuances and difficulties your family may be facing in your environment and within your family structure.
